Why I’m Recording My Study Sessions

W

I didn’t originally start recording my study sessions because I thought I was going to make study videos.

I mostly wanted to see what I was actually doing.

When you have a busy day, it’s surprisingly easy to convince yourself that you studied a lot. You remember opening the lecture, watching a few videos, making some notes, checking your phone in between, and suddenly the day feels like a productive one.

But when I started recording my sessions, I could actually see the time I was spending at the desk.

And that was a little different.

I’m currently preparing for NEET PG 2027 alongside my MBBS internship, so I don’t have a completely predictable routine. Some days I get enough time to study properly. Other days internship takes up most of the day and I’m tired by the time I get back.

Because of that, I’m not trying to force myself into a perfect 10 or 12-hour study schedule.

I’m trying to build something I can actually continue.

I usually put my camera on, start recording and just leave it there while I study. Sometimes it’s a normal study session. Sometimes I record for a couple of hours. I’ve also recorded longer sessions covering things like OBGYN and Anatomy.

The interesting part is that knowing the camera is running makes me a little more conscious about what I’m doing.

If I get distracted, I know it.

If I spend an hour actually studying, I know it.

If I sit at my desk for three hours but only get a fraction of that time into studying, I know that too.

It’s not really about pretending to be productive for a video.

If anything, it’s the opposite.

The videos give me a record of what actually happened.

That’s also why I’ve started keeping the NEET PG 2027 study log on this website. I want to be able to look back and see not just what I planned to do, but what I actually did.

I’m also putting some of these sessions on YouTube.

Maybe someone else preparing for NEET PG will find them useful. Maybe someone will put one on in the background while studying. And maybe, a year from now, I’ll look back at these videos and find it interesting to see how my preparation started.

I don’t expect every session to be productive.

There will be bad days. There will be distracted days. There will probably be days where I don’t study at all.

I’m keeping those parts too.

For now, the camera is just another part of my study setup.

I sit down, start recording, open Marrow, and get started.

That’s about it.

Watch a study session

I also record some of my actual study sessions and upload them to YouTube. No talking, no complicated productivity setup, just sitting down and studying.
